Here are seven things that you can buy on sale in February. There is a definite seasonality to prices for most items. Understanding these patterns can save you a bundle on many big-ticket (and smaller ticket) items. Look to find great prices on these items in February:
Winter is generally a good time to buy a home but a bad time to sell. Most people do not like moving during the winter as it is a time of holidays and it is also cold in many parts of the world. When the buyers are away, that’s the time to pay. You could save yourself a nice chunk of change buying during the winter months.
Anything ‘office’ always seems to be really expensive; especially furniture. Consider getting yourself a comfortable chair or an ergonomically designed desk this month (or both). Prices are normally good in February.
HDTV and Home Theatre
February is a good time to buy a HDTV or a home theatre system. New models often come out in the spring, so retailers are looking to make space in their showrooms by unloading last year’s merchandise. An even less expensive option (which I have in my own home) is to skip the TV altogether and, instead, go for a projector and a screen. This frees up a lot of space in your home and gives you a 90 inch screen (or even larger). It is also much less expensive.
Most couple prefer getting married when it is nice and warm outside and when the plants and pretty flowers are in bloom. This makes for nice pictures and pleasant outdoor receptions. Frugal couples can save themselves a nice amount of money by planning their special time when no one else is doing it.
Well, it boils down to a low demand for bicycles in the winter combined with the coming launch of new models in the spring. You should be able to find some good deals if you
Launches of new video games usually occur in the fall so that they have time to build up hype before the holiday buying season. Sales tend to taper of after Christmas, but game designers and retailers still have to pay their bills so many game titles tend to go on sale in January and February.
A lot of people pick up winter clothing at good prices after Christmas and the prices continue to get better and better as the spring slowly approaches. If you can find something that you like that fits, you will probably get it at a great price in February.
As I mentioned earlier, it can often make sense to hold off on a big purchase until the prices are low. You can save yourself a lot of money doing this. Yes, the selection might be more limited in some cases, but in other cases, the selection will be better than at other times of the year (such as booking a wedding and all the related expenses). Something to consider if you are a frugal shopper who wants to make the most out of what you have (and have some fun doing it).
