I am a big fan of Consumer Reports Magazine. I recently read an article in the July, 2011, edition that rated laundry stain removers. I was intrigued by their CR BEST BUY choice, RESOLVE Laundry Stain Remover. Not only is is very inexpensive relative to its competitors, but apparently it does a superior job as well. I decided to do a little testing on my own.

Here are my results …

First, I took a white cotton t-shirt that was too small for me and I was otherwise going to cut up for rags. I then thought about stuff that would most likely cause impossible stains. I decided on a few things: BBQ sauce, soy sauce, butter, red wine, grass, blueberries, and blue food colouring. I then rubbed each item very thoroughly into the white t-shirt and waited five minutes. Next, I used RESOLVE as directed (apply while stain is still fresh, rub it in, and wait one to five minutes). I waited five minutes. I then put the t-shirt into the washing machine using a warm water temperature setting and 2x TIDE with Bleach Alternative. I have a HE front-loading washing machine. WASH ONE After the cycle ended, I was quite impressed. The butter, soy sauce, and blue food colouring were completely gone (not a trace). The red wine and the grass stain were mostly gone but still visible. The only stains that didn’t really come out very well were the BBQ sauce and the blueberries. I will wash it once again. Here is a picture of my shirt after Wash One with the items circled:

WASH TWO I reapplied RESOLVE as directed once again while the t-shirt was still damp and washed it as above. The grass stain is now completely gone and all of the other stains have diminished significantly. The red wine, blueberry, and BBQ sauce stains are still slightly visible but mostly gone. I wonder what a third wash would do? Maybe I’ll post and update after I get a chance to wash that t-shirt for a third time. Check back soon. Here is a picture after wash number two:

This would make this already good value even better. Also, if you want to add customized designs to your t-shirts cheaply click here.

In summary, my home test of RESOLVE Laundry Stain Remover was precipitated by a review I read in Consumer Reports that gave it a CR Best Buy rating. It is a cheap stain remover, but it is also apparently the best. This is just the type of product that we love to feature here at froogalism.com – saving money and getting more with less is what we’re all about. My home test of this product demonstrated to me that it does a great job. No stain remover will get everything out (if you do find one, let me know as I would love to feature it). On the whole, this product actually surprised me with how good it was. I actually didn’t think it would get any of those stains out (but it did). Faint outlines of the BBQ sauce, the red wine, and the blueberries do remain but they are very faint (barely noticeable in fact). All other stains have been removed completely.

Here are my other TOP RATED PRODUCTS

Please post your own review or comments about RESOLVE Laundry Stain Remover and be sure to let us know how it works on other types of stains and washing conditions (e.g. longer stain set times, using cold water, etc.). We would love to hear from you.

Thanks for visiting. Remember to check back soon.
